Study Abroad on display today

The Study Abroad Office is holding an open house today in the foyer of McFarlin Auditorium from 5 until 7 p.m. for students interested in going abroad. According to Meghan Gomen, who works in the Study Abroad Office, there will be tables set up for each program, both semester and summer. Program directors, former students and other recruiters will be handing out fliers and other information about the programs.

“It’s a very informal event,” said Gomen. “They can pick up brochures and ask questions about anything they’re interested in.”

Gomen also advised students to apply early if they’re planning on studying abroad, especially for popular programs like Spain and Australia. The deadline for Australia is Oct. 1 and it’s Oct. 15 for Spain, but all programs are rolling admissions.

“Our deadlines are coming up quickly,” she said.

Gomen also said the open house was “a good opportunity to get firsthand knowledge” from people who’ve been abroad.

But mostly, she said, it’s an opportunity for students to learn.

“Just come with an open mind,” she said.
