Sophomore running back DeMyron Martin will be out four to six weeks with a dislocated bone in his foot, according to Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations Brad Sutton.

Martin sat on the bench after the first quarter of Saturday’s loss to the University of North Texas after running for 55 yards on 13 carries.

Martin was seen limping to the locker room at halftime, and did not return to the field until the middle of the third quarter, out of his uniform, on crutches and with a boot on his foot.

X-rays were taken Sunday night to determine the extent of the injury.

Martin carried the Mustang offense in 2005 with 854 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

The earliest Martin could see action on the field is against UTEP in El Paso. Until then backup running backs Johnnie Fitzgerald and redshirt freshman James Mapps will have to carry the load of SMU’s offense.
