Student robbed at gunpoint in apartment parking lot

SMU issues off-campus crime alert

A female student reported having her purse stolen at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Amesbury Parc Apartments at University Boulevard and Amesbury Drive at 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

The student described the suspect as a black male around 6 feet tall, wearing dark clothing and carrying a silver handgun. After the robbery, the suspect reportedly got into a dark-colored compact car with another person and fled the scene.

SMU issued an off-campus crime alert for the robbery on Wednesday.

The Dallas Police Department is investigating the crime, although anyone with information is encouraged to contact the SMU Police Department at 214-768-3388. Information also may be reported anonymously through the SMU Police Department’s Silent Witness Program by calling 214-SMU-2TIP or online at www.smu.edu/2tip.
