Speakers for the 30th annual Willis M. Tate Lecture Series at SMU have been announced.
The 2011-2012 Tate Lecture series includes distinguished journalists, a CEO and an astrophysicist. SMU students, high school students and members of the Dallas community will have the opportunity to hear unique viewpoints from the 11 globally recognized leaders.
“We are excited about the compelling and diverse speakers offered during this season’s Tate Lecture Series,” said Lucy Billingsley, chair of the Tate Lecture Series Board of Directors in a press release. “This season promises to provide a continued tradition of engaging and thought-provoking leaders, and we look forward to hearing insightful messages from speakers.”
Already sold out, the first lecture will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6. CNN senior political commentator, David Gergen will be the moderator between James A. Baker, III, former secretary of state, and Fareed Zakaria, editor-at-large of Time, at The Linda and Mitch Hart Lecture.
Produced by SMU and presented by The Dallas Morning News, the Tate Lecture series annually returns more than $700,000 to SMU. One of the recipients of these funds is the President’s Scholars Program.
