Key Matchup
SMU WR Emmanuel Sanders vs. WSU DB Daniel Simmons: Mustang senior wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders for part of the game, will be matching up against freshman Cougar DB Daniel Simmons.
Sanders has been on a tear, last week he torched UAB for 148 receiving yards and a touchdown and will wreak havoc on the inexperienced freshman DB.
On special teams, Sanders has also stolen the show with an average of 36.8 yards per punt return.
Sanders said before the season that his goal was to break 1,000 yards on the year. He’ll be looking to get a chunk of that on Saturday.
Advantages
When the Mustangs run RB Shawnbrey McNeal is gaining 112 yards/game and will find holes against a porous Cougar defense.
When the Mustangs pass Senior WR Emmanuel Sanders will look to complete his second 100-yard game of the season.
When the Cougars run The Cougar’s running back tandem will pound the Mustang’s front eight in a run-first offense.
When the Cougars pass SMU leads the NCAA in interceptions with nine and won’t slow down against a poor WSU air attack.
Special Teams SMU kicker Matt Szymanski is perfect in PATs and field goals this season.
