Red-hot Mustangs win sixth game in seven tries

Junior forward Brittany Gilliam, recorded her fifth double-double of the season in a 65-53 victory over Tulsa Sunday night.

Taking off on a 15-0 run in the opening minutes of the first half, the Mustangs gained a game-high14-point lead with ten seconds left to secure their second consecutive win.

Having already beaten the Golden Hurricane in the opening game of conference play last weekend, the Mustangs now stand at 10-7, having won six of their last seven games.

Gilliam led the game with 19 points, coupled with a game-high 10 rebounds to secure the double-double. Gilliam leads the team with 248 points on the season, averaging 14.6 points per game.

Teammates Alice Severin, LaShandra Hill and Christine Elliott all contributed with double-digit scores.

The Mustangs shot 10-of-14 from the free-throw line and 49 percent from the field, while Tulsa managed just 36 percent in field goals and went 3-of-10 in three pointers.

The Mustangs next game will be Thursday night againt 10-8 and 2-1 Green Wave from Tulane.
