Stillson to lead ’07 Pan-AM diving Team

SMU’s head diving coach Jim Stillson has been named the team leader of the 2007 Pan American games.

The games will take place this summer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the diving portion of the competition will take place July 25-28.

In his 24 seasons as SMU’s diving coach, Stillson has produced six Olympians, one world champion, a 1992 silver medalist, 10 U.S. National champions and four NCAA champions.

Stillson has been named the Conference Coach of the Year 16 times in addition to earning the NCAA Women’s Diving Coach of the Year award in 1991 and 1995, and the NCAA Men’s Diving Coach of the Year in 1989.

Stillson is a member of the USA Diving’s Committee for Competitive Excellence and is the chair for the international subcommittee.

Stillson’s honor is still pending a final approval by the USOC Board of Directors.
