SMU women shut out SFA 2-0

Days after being selected by Conference-USA coaches as the preseason favorite to win the C-USA Soccer Championship, the SMU women’s soccer team traveled to Nacogdoches, Texas, to take on Stephen F. Austin State University Ladyjacks last Saturday night.

Sophomore Krystal Bailey scored two unassisted goals — one in each half — to give the Mustangs all the offense they would need for a 2-0 win.

SMU goalkeeper Ashley Gunter made one save over 90 minutes of play. The Ladyjacks managed only six shots in the game, while the Mustangs accumulated 21.

The team will open its regular season schedule this Saturday against the University of Texas Longhorns. The game is set for 7 p.m. in Austin.
