Former Saturday Night Live star Kevin Nealon is the main attraction in this year’s Mustang Stampede, which is a two day event held the first weekend of the school year.
Nealon was a cast member on the NBC show from 1986 until 1995. Fans of the show remember memorable characters such as Hans and Franz, The Subliminal Man and his impersonation of Larry King. He was also the anchor for Weekend Update.
Nealon currently stars in the new Showtime series, Weeds, as Mayor Doug Wilson. The show centers on a suburban mom who turns to dealing marijuana to pay the bills.
Nealon’s improv act begins at 7 pm inside McFarlin Auditorium, and admission is free.
Immediately following the performance is the Taste of Dallas, an annual event held on the main quad in front of Dallas Hall.
Various local restaurants will be on hand to give out free samples of their food and menus.
Saturday, the focus turns to the football team, beginning with “Kick-Off.” It’s an event featuring free food and begins outside the Ford Stadium gates at 5:30 pm. Fans will then make their way inside for a scrimmage that kicks off at 7 pm.
