Sophomore return man Jessie Henderson could be the first player to ever win this award, because it is the first year for the Randy Moss Return Man Award.

Sponsored by GameDay Consultants and Gulf Coast Events, the Randy Moss Return Man Award will be presented to one of the 18 finalists announced earlier this week.

SMU’s Henderson joined 17 of the kick return elite. The award will be presented during the 2007 North South All-Star Classic in Houston.

Henderson has returned 10 kicks 369 yards, his most memorable being at Tulane.

Henderson had three returns for 136 yards. Just after losing the lead to go down 21-20, Henderson took the ensuing kick 100 yards and put the Mustangs on top for good.

Henderson was also named a mid-season All-American, honorable mention preseason All-American and led Conference USA in kick returns last season.

Each week a “watch list” will be announced of players that have excelled that week.

Henderson has not returned a kick in the last four games.
