‘Lions for Lambs’ Pena on-campus today

Today, the SMU Program Council will host a free screening of “Lions for Lambs.” The cast for the film includes Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise and Michael Pena.

Pena, who was also featured in “Crash” and “Babel,” will be available for a Q&A session after the film.

“Lions for Lambs” will be shown at 8 p.m. in the Hughes-Trigg theatre. No tickets are needed.

The film is about two men who joined the fight in Afghanistan. The men were inspired by their professor (Redford), who encouraged them to do something with their lives. As they fight for their survival, they connect the story to what is going on in America. In California, their professor tries to reach out to a student that is nothing like his former students. Then, in Washington, a presidential hopeful (Cruise) gives a bombshell story to a journalist (Streep) that could affect the lives of the two men in Afghanistan. It is a story about how two worlds can impact each other.

Students can contact Jordan McCarter, Student Program Coordinator, for more information. McCarter can be reached at (214) 768-4405.
