Dallas Summer Musicals gets a Blast! of fun

Band never sounded like this before. Evolved from the Star of Indiana drum corps, Blast! is a musical featuring 54 drummers showcasing their “athleticism, musical talent and kaleidoscopic movement.”

The band’s artistic director, James Mason groomed the musicians of Star of Indiana into a championship-winning performance team. Mason led them to placement among the top 10 in the Drum Corps International World Championships in 1991. In 1993, Mason decided to take the drum corps to the next level and bring their outdoor performance to the stage.

Blast! was part of last year’s Dallas Summer Musicals and was brought back this year due to DSM subscriber demand. The President and Managing

Director of Dallas Summer Musicals said, “This is one of the most popular shows we have ever had at the Music Hall.”

The musical has gotten rave reviews from the Boston Globe, New York Daily News, and the Chicago Tribune.

Blast! will run from June 3 – 8 at the Fair Park Music Hall. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and by calling 214-631-ARTS.
