Meadows Chamber Music Showcase

The Meadows Chamber Music Showcases presents a free performance of chamber works from the early Classical period to the 20th century. The event starts at 8 p.m. on Nov. 9 and will be held in Caruth Auditorium. For more information please call 214-768-1951.

“The Beat of Different Drummers”

The Meadows Wind Ensemble will be performing with contemporary percussion ensemble NEXUS tonight at 8 p.m. in Caruth Auditorium. Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $7 for students, faculty and staff. The concert will be a prelude to the MWE’s International Conference of the Percussive Arts Society performance, which will be held Nov. 6 in Austin. “Café Jazz” with Jampact

Jazz group Jampact will perform free tomorrow night in the Varsity at 8 p.m. The group includes Meadows School Dean Jose Bowen on piano, Buddy Mohmed on bass and faculty members Kim Corbet on trombone and synthesizer, Akira Sato on trumpet, and Jamal Mohamed on drums. Meadows Community Outreach

To benefit the North Texas Food Bank, the Meadows School of the Arts, along with SMU-in-Legacy and the Resounding Harmony choir, is sponsoring both a virtual and conventional canned food drive. For every dollar donated online, $10 worth of food and grocery products will be distributed to families without food. The food drive starts Nov. 8 and lasts until the Nov. 24. The regular canned-food drive will take place Nov. 15 to Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hope Lobby of the Owen Arts Center.
