Women’s soccer reaches new heights

The SMU women’s soccer team has moved up to No. 18 in the adidas/NSCAA poll and are No. 15 in the socceramerica.com poll. The Mustangs also reached the top 25 in the other two polls, making No. 22 in the soccertimes.com poll and No. 20 in the soccerbuzz.com poll.

The Mustangs have leadership from four seniors, Susanne Collins, Morgan Field, Olivia O’Rear and Ashley Watson.

O’Rear was named the Conference-USA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. With one goal and three assists O’Rear helped the Mustangs to their 10th and 11th consecutive wins, including the game winner against East Carolina.

With a victory against UCF this weekend the Mustangs would clinch their second consecutive C-USA title and their 11th conference champtionship in SMU history.

The women’s soccer team will next play at Westcott Field in the C-USA Tournament Nov. 1-5.
