The senior class will present a new bronze university seal asits gift this year, the senior class council decided on Nov.24.
The seal, which will be similar to the one in the rotunda ofDallas Hall, will be placed in the lobby of the Laura Lee BlantonStudent Services Building.
“This will be a great place for visibility because allprospective students, parents and visitors to the university willgo to the Blanton Building and see our gift,” said BrittMoen, president of the senior class council.
The council discussed many options for this year’s gift, including a mustang statue and a live mustang to accompanyPeruna.
But the council decided against these ideas for various reasons, said Kurt Pottkotter from the Office of Annual Giving.
He said that the council wanted to give a unique gift, somethingrelatively high profile that would have a lasting presence in theuniversity.
“Ninety-nine percent of the time it’s abrick-and-mortar project,” Pottkotter said.
“That price point becomes a challenge.”
Moen said the council is excited about the project.
“This is a university priority, and we are glad to helpraise the funds for it,” she said.
While many logistics are still unknown, she said the seniorclass would immediately begin raising money.
“We’re hoping for a large donor turnout from ourfellow seniors,” Moen said.
