The team is continuing to prepare for its season opener against Northwestern at the Spring Hills Suites Invitational on Aug. 30 with the annual Red and Blue Scrimmage today at 7 pm in Moody Coliseum.
The Mustangs have been practicing the last two weeks to prepare themselves for the season. Head coach Lisa Seifert sees the Red and Blue Scrimmage as the perfect opportunity to establish the roles of her players
“We are playing our Red and Blue Scrimmage to prepare the team as well as the support staff for a typical game,” coach Seifert said.
The annual Red and Blue Scrimmage match will feature three games. The scrimmage will be slightly different than a usual match. The first two games will be played to 30 points and the third game will be played to 15 points.
Four freshmen will get to make their debut in the scrimmage. Fans and coaches will be able to see the new talent for the season. It will also help coach Seifert establish what kind of roles they might play during the season.
“As training camp has progressed the roles on the team have been more clearly defined,” head coach Lisa Seifert said in a statement, “I suspect that we will get better every day as I have witnessed a very strong work ethic and team determination to win.
The Red and Blue Scrimmage is open to the public and admission is free.
