Amnesty International hosts Vietnam speaker
Amnesty International is hosting writer and poet U Sam Oeur from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Hughes-Trigg Commons. April 17 is the anniversary of the fall of South Vietnam in 1975.
Oeur was in six concentration camps during the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979. He was also the secretary general of the Khmer League for Freedom in 1973. Oeur will recount his life story and read some of his poetry. The event is free and open to the public.
Tate features Watergate reporters
Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, former Washington Post reporters who uncovered the Watergate scandal, will participate in a panel discussion at the Tate lecture Tuesday. Hugh Sidey, Time magazine’s Washington contributor and U.S. presidency expert, will moderate.
The student forum will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Hughes-Trigg Theater and the lecture at 7:30 in McFarlin Auditorium.
