Perkins Theology School gets new dean
Williams B. Lawrence has been named the new dean of SMU’s Perkins School of Theology. He will begin his newposition effective Aug. 1.
Lawrence brings more than three decades of experience in local church leadership and theological studies. He is known throughout The United Methodist Church for his writing and research.
Lecture focuses on civil rights activist
Yvonne Davis Frear, of the Texas A&M history department, will be on hand to deepen the audience’s understanding of Juanita Craft’s activities, the context of the times, the sources of support she received and resistance she faced.
Juanita Craft was a civil rights activist in Dallas beginning in 1935 through the 1970s. The event is sponsored by the William P. Clements Center for Southwest Studies.

Bodybuilders compete
