University issues crime alert

SMU PD is investigating two unrelated reports of sexual assault that took place last year. Criminal charges are pending the investigations.

Police said both suspects have been identified and they believe the two cases are not related.

The first report occurred in August 2008 at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house. Police said the woman said she knew the suspect, who is also a suspect in an October 2008 sexual assault complaint. He is described as a white male, 20 years old, 150 pounds, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes.

The second report occurred in March 2008 off campus. Police said the woman in this report also knew the suspect, who was a student at SMU, but is no longer affiliated. Police describe him as a white male, 25 years old, 6 feet tall with brown hair and eyes.

Police urge anyone with information relating to these reports to contact SMU PD.
