Now that winter is finally here in Dallas, it’s time we discussed winter footwear.
Winter boots are a must, especially since this week we have been seeing temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit. With this guide of new boots, you can be sure to be warm on the walk to Dallas Hall.
Boots have definitely been one of the hottest footwear trends this year. Because of the weather turning cooler, more and more students are turning to this form of footwear to get them across campus. It used to be that one pair of boots would satisfy any wardrobe, but those days are long past. Now you need several pairs to complement different appearances and different outfits.
There is no one trend, because the boot designers this fall are offering several attractive choices. Styles vary from cowboy boots, shining riding boots, decorative boots and plain lace-up boots to many more fancy fabric styles in different types of heels.
This season, fashionable boots are easy to find, as well as extremely comfortable. It’s now possible to find boots that are stylish and durable and warm. Most major labels have offered two main styles, including enormous, furry ski boots or slimmer suede boots that often lace up the leg. These boots can either a wedged 1970s-style rubber heel or a flat, moccasin-like sole. Several designers, such as Christian Dior and Marc Jacobs, have issued moon boots, but this trend is right only for the person who doesn’t mind actually looking like an astronaut. Since these boots are mainly insulated with fleece, shearling or faux fur lining, these boots will keep feet cozy even on the windiest and most freezing of days.
Among the most attractive designer boots are those by Donna Karan. This season she has a basic shearling boot in beige suede ($683). Coach has recently put out an Aspen-glamorous white quilted nylon boot with rabbit fur trim and wedged heel ($400). And Cole Haan has footwear that is more urbane, a black shearling “G series” boot with a flat “nubbed rubber bottom” ($225).
In case none of these boots are appealing to you, a good idea would be to purchase a classic yet inexpensive pair of slim, black, knee-high leather boots, the kind that work as well when dressed up with a miniskirt as they do with a pair of trousers, like those seen in store catalogs such as J. Crew.
When wearing these boots, there are several different ways to sport them. The first way would be tucking your jeans into the boots, or you can wear them with a skirt, whether it is short or long. Gauchos also will look hot with a great pair of winter boots.
