SMU senior Kate Ackerson picked up the third All-Conference USA award of her career on Tuesday, when the league named her to the first team.
Ackerson, the 2009 Baylor Invitational champion, also was a conference all-academic selection. She was a conference Women’s Golf Student Athlete of the Year selection in 2008.
After missing most of the 2008 spring season with a wrist injury, Ackerson returned to the links last year with a vengance.
The Allen native finished the spring season with sixth place finishes at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman, Okla., and the Conference USA Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
