“The Two Orphans”
The Division of Theater and Music presents Theresa Rebeck’s “The Two Orphans,” which begins Wednesday, April 29 through Sunday, May 3 in Caruth Auditorium. The story follows two black sisters living in New Orleans in 1865 right after the Civil War.
Professor of Theatre and Associate Dean of Student Affairs Kevin Hofeditz, and Director of Opera Hank Hammett will co-direct the workshop. “The Two Orphans” starts at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Meadows Museum Thursday Evening Lecture “Aureliano de Beruete: The Impressionist Landscape and Castile”
Pilar de Miguel Egea, Professor of art history at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, and modern and contemporary art specialist, will give a free lecture Thursday, April 30 at 6 p.m. in the Bob Smith Auditorium in Meadows Museum.
The lecture focuses on Aureliano de Beruete and his “El Tajo, Toledo,” a 1904 piece that Meadows Museum recently acquired. Professor de Miguel will discuss Berute’s various influences as well as his travel experiences and life as an artist. For more information call 214-768-4677.

“Method Creative Spring Portfolio Exhibition”
On May 1, the Method Creative exhibition will showcase broadcast, print, outdoor and non-traditional forms of advertising by the students in SMU’s Temerlin Advertising Institute. A range of students will be on-hand to field questions throughout the day. The exhibition starts at 11 a.m. in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center Ballroom and lasts until 2.p.m. It is free for anyone to attend. For more information call 214-768-3090.

“Opera Free for All”
Join singing actors from the Dallas Opera-SMU Emerging Artist Program as they present a free Brown Bag performance of “Opera in a Box: Follow Your Dreams” on May 1 at 1 p.m. in the Bob Hope Lobby of the Owen Arts Center. Directed by Director of Opera Hank Hammett, the show tells the stories of young artists and their decision to break into the field of opera. “Follow Your Dreams” features scenes from “Dona Francisquita,” “The Magic Flute,” “The Tales of Hoffmann,” and “Porgy and Bess.” For more information call 214-768-1951.

“Rising Stars Concert”
On Friday, May 1 and Sunday, May 3, the Meadows Symphony will feature a performance by the winners of the annual Meadows concerto competition in keyboard, strings, voice and woodwinds/bass/percussion. The performance starts at 8 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Sunday in Caruth Auditorium of the Owen Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $7 for students, faculty and staff. Meadows Theatre and Kitchen Dog Theater “Titus Andronicus” by William Shakespeare
Meadows School of the Arts and Kitchen Dog Theater presents, Shakespeare’s “Titus Andronicus,” which will be performed by Meadows theatre students and Kitchen Dog actors. The famous play will take place in an ancient Mayan setting in a new adaptation by Kitchen Dog Theater Artistic Company members Leah Spillman and Lee Truell.
“Titus Andronicus” is currently showing and will continue to do so through Saturday, May 16 at the Kitchen Dog Theater on 3120 McKinney Ave. The play starts regularly at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Additional performances include an 8 p.m. start on March 29 and May 13, as well as 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 10.
