In the wake of their win over Creighton on March 14, the SMU crew team will head to Oklahoma City to take on the University of Kansas and the University of Oklahoma in the team’s third event of the season.
In the race against the Blue Jays, the varsity eight crew of Janice Merideth, Caroline Merideth, Catherine Campbell, Alex Austin, Hannah Hansing, Liz Langdon, Chantal Bohren, Lauren Doucet and coxswain Ali Smith will look to improve on their season-record time of 6:59:56.
The varsity four, made up of Caroline Merideth, Hannah Hansing, Chantal Bohren and Catherine Campbell and coxswain Emily Van Volkinburg, will also look for a second consecutive win.
The Mustang’s effort paid off, as they won all five races to begin their spring season.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, Sunday’s race was moved due to inclement weather, causing cold temperatures. Sunday’s race will begin at 8 a.m. and finish at 10:45 a.m.
The team will continue their season with a race against Alabama and UNC, followed by the SIRA Regatta and the Central and South Regionals in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
