Some people argue that a chalk-filled second weekend of the NCAA Tournament is a good thing.
They say that it makes for more drama, with the best teams in the country still alive and fighting.
Is that really true?
Is there more drama and excitement going into this week than there was three years ago, when George Mason spent a couple glorious weeks in the spotlight as a No. 11 seed.
The Cinderellas make March Madness special, and that’s why there is nothing special about this weekend’s games. The power conferences-the Big East, in particular-dominated the opening weekend, just like everyone expected. Ho hum.
The last vestige of hope rests in the hands of already familiar names like Xavier, Gonzaga and Arizona.
Unless a new Cinderella emerges this weekend, I’d rather spend time catching up on the seventh season of 24. That’s real drama.
