Volleyball match cancelled

Friday’s home SMU volleyball match against the Central Florida Golden Knights is postponed due to the threat of Hurricane Rita.

The match against the Golden Knights has been rescheduled for Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in Moody Coliseum.

The volleyball team will not travel to Southern Miss this weekend for their match because of the hurricane. The match against the Golden Eagles was scheduled for Sunday and will be rescheduled for a later date.

SMU is not the only college in the state of Texas to cancel or postpone weekend sports to avoid possible effects from the hurricane.

Texas A&M moved its football game against Texas State from Saturday evening to last night at 7:30 p.m.

Rice and Houston have cancelled or postponed all athletic events scheduled Sept. 21-25.

SMU’s game against Houston scheduled for Nov. 12 has been pushed back a week to Nov. 19. The game will still be held on the University of Houston campus.
