Kraft finishes first again

Sophomore Kelly Kraft edged Xavier’s Sebastian McLean on the second playoff hole to win his second tournament of the academic year on Tuesday.

Kraft finished with a three-round total of 208, guiding the Mustangs to a fourth-place finish at the Mizzou Tiger Invite in Columbia, Mo.

Freshmen James Kown and Marc Sambol posted 11th- and 17th-place finishes, respectively, to complement Kraft’s performance.

Kraft won the Jerry Pate Invite in Birmingham, Ala., in mid-October, rallying from third to first on the final day.

The Mustangs travel to Orlando, Fla., Sunday to begin the Conference USA Championships. SMU finished fourth in last year’s competition.
