The men and women’s basketball teams will play their final regular-season home games this weekend.
The men host UAB (19-5, 9-2 CUSA) on Saturday night. The Blazers are currently second in the conference and come to Dallas riding a three-game win streak. SMU (12-13, 4-8) by contrast has lost four of its last five game and needs a win to reach .500 before travelling to Houston to close out its season against Rice.
The SMU women’s team (14-2, 9-5) will close out its regular season with a home doubleheader against UTEP (14-12, 6-8) on Friday and Tulane (13-10, 7-7) on Sunday.
In its last meeting, SMU fell to the Miners by 11 in El Paso. The Mustangs defeated Tulane on the Green Wave’s home floor.
A strong finish this weekend could give the SMU women a first-round bye in the C-USA conference tournament, which will be played at Moody next week.
