The field for the new dean of Dedman College has been narrowed down to three candidates, said an official from the Dean of the Engineer School’s office said.
Geoffrey Orsak, dean of the Engineering School, is chairing the search committee, but was unavailable for comment.
James Quick, Roger Benjamin, and James Lindsay are the three finalists. The candidates will be making trips to Dallas to tour SMU and meet with students and faculty over the coming weeks.
The search committee was formed in the fall of 2005
Dedman College houses 16 departments in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics. In addition, the college operates 15 interdisciplinary programs, five centers and institutes, as well as the university’s honors, general education, and study abroad programs.
The college has over 250 full-time faculty members, including 23 endowed professorships. There are approximately 1,500 undergraduates and 350 graduate students in the Dedman College.
