Student Senate is seeking proposed changes to the Student Code of Conduct as part of its annual process.
Members of the SMU community may submit proposed revisions online at smu.edu/studentsenate no later than Friday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m.
The Student Code of Conduct outlines university polices that all students must follow.
The SMU community is able to suggest changes to any part of the Code that they deem necessary.
Proposed revisions will be reviewed by a committee and voted upon.
The committee is comprised of a representative from RLSH, the Greek community, the director of Student Activities, the student body president, two senators and a staff member who oversees judicial affairs. Student Body Secretary Katie Perkins will chair the committee.
The committee will then present the proposed changes to Student Senate.
If approved, the revisions will be given to the dean of Student Life, Office of Legal Affairs and vice president for Student Affairs for comments.
Those offices will return comments to the committee and then Student Senate will vote on them again.
If approved, proposed changes will then be presented to President R. Gerald Turner for approval.
