SMU football head coach Phil Bennett added two new staffers to his team today: Flint Risien and Steve Stigall.
Risien will serve as an assistant coach while Stigall was named the director of on-campus recruiting.
Stigall comes to SMU from the University of Texas where he worked in the football operations office. His main responsibilities on the Hilltop include lodging arrangements, travel, meals and itineraries for on-campus recruitment. Jerry Bennett has become the full-time director of high school relations.
Riesen’s role will predominantly concern the offensive tackles and tight ends. He’s spent his career in high school programs, most recently as head coach and athletic department at Lakeview Centennial (1999-2005) and Rockwall (1989-1995).
Bennett also added two graduate assistants to the staff, Tolu Lasaki and Reed Heim. Lasaki will help with the Mustangs’ defense while Heim will assist the offense. Each has spent time on-staff with other collegiate teams.
The Mustangs continue spring practice until the Red and Blue scrimmage, which will take place at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on March 31 at 2 p.m.
