Cookies and ice cream was the recipe for the engineering school on a scorching evening to kick off the new semester with the fourth annual “Engineering Ice Cream Bash”.
Pokey O’s catered the event held in the engineering quad Monday evening. Students gathered to enjoy the ice cream sandwiches and catch up with fellow students as well as mingle with engineering faculty.
“The goal of the event was to welcome back engineering students, integrate the new and prospective students and create a stronger engineering community,” said Kathy Hubbard, Director of the Center for Engineering Leadership.
“It was a nice break after the first day of class, especially for the first years who can get overwhelmed. Hopefully the event will help put faces and names for the first years to connect with and meet people with their same interests,” Hubbard added.
The turnout for the event was better than expected as dozens of engineering students turned out to enjoy the ice cream and music social scene.
Many of the students enjoyed catching up with fellow engineering students and getting to know their professors for the up coming semester.
“It was really fun, the music and ice cream were great, and it was nice to see my friends and mingle with my professors,” Engineering student Matt Ellis said.
