The Meadows Museum’s first annual Spanish festival offers a taste of European culture for those who are staying in Dallas over fall break. “Discover Spain!” celebrates Spain’s national day, Fiesta Nacional de España, and Meadows Museum’s 50th Anniversary from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
“We want to bring together Spanish art and culture as it coincides with Columbus Day weekend,” said David Leggett, the membership manager at Meadows Museum. “Christopher Columbus is such a celebrated figure in Spain and we have an incredible exhibition to show for this event.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to see Christopher Columbus’s first attempt of a map of the New World, his personal journal entries from his expeditions, a roster of his crew and more. The special exhibition that houses Columbus’s artifacts, Treasures from the House of Alba: 500 Years of Art and Collecting, will be on view at the Meadows Museum until Saturday, Jan. 3.
The festival will feature film screenings by the Dallas Film Society, food and wine tastings, art activities, gallery talks, live Spanish music and dance performances.
