The SMU track team competed in the John Jacobs Collegiate Invitational in Norman, Okla., this weekend, posting six top 10 finishes.
Senior Andrea Kvetova earned first-place honors in the javelin throw with a toss of 45.65 meters. Teammate Alesha Stegemoller also took a top-three finish in the high jump. The senior placed second in the event with a jump of 1.70 meters. Christina Mueller, a sophomore Mustang, tossed the discus 47.70 meters for a fifth place finish. In the hammer throw, Lauren Kuhner took a ninth place finish while Meagan Berg finished 11th in the same event.
In track events, senior Gaelle Niare placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.68 meters. She also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.98 seconds.
SMU returns to competition Saturday in Fort Worth at the TCU Invitational.
