The International Student Organization (ISO) hosted a three vs. three basketball tournament at Dedman Center Friday as the last event of SMU’s international education week.
Six teams composed of undergraduate and graduate international students got together to compete.
“We started this game last year and I think this is a good chance for international students to play basketball together,” Xin Xu, the president of International Student Organization, said. “It’s a good time for them to meet new friends.”
International students who like playing basketball had a great time playing with other students they had not met before.
“I usually come to play after class and I only have certain friends who play with me a long time,” junior finance major Tong Wu said. “I really enjoy this game because I can play with more people.”
Many players joined the game last year, and they continued playing this year for fun.
“I am really sad I am graduating. I will miss playing basketball here,” senior accounting major Yongda Xu said.
The winners of the tournament were team “Slow My Momentum” and they won three front row tickets to a Dallas Mavericks game The second place winners, team “Walking Dead,” received game tickets as well. The team in third place won SMU T-shirts and notebooks.
“This is one of the biggest events for ISO, and I think we will keep doing it all the time,” Xu said.
