Interested in working on the set of “The OC,” planning big events in Hollywood, being Jennifer Lopez’s personal assistant or just looking for a chance to experience the summer of a lifetime?
In its fifth year, University of Dreams gives college students from top universities the opportunity to pursue their dream career in four major cities, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago or London. The focus and heart of the company revolves around the students. The goal of University of Dreams is to inspire each individual to find his or her passion in life and to never give up on their dreams.
“I founded this company for the sole purpose of teaching students that anything is possible, and during their stay we stress the importance of following their dreams in life,” said President and CEO Eric Lochtefeld.
University of Dreams, an eight-week summer internship program, guarantees each student an internship in the industry of choice with a company it approves. Housing at universities such as UCLA and NYU, a meal plan at campus dining halls, transportation to and from work, and six planned weekend excursions including places such as Las Vegas, Wimbledon and Atlantic City, are all part of this all-inclusive experience.
“What is so great about University of Dreams is the fact that you are surrounded by 150 other students experiencing the same thing as you. I got to understand first hand what it’s like to work in New York City, yet I still had a support system to lean back on. I feel like I grew more last summer than I did the past five years of my life,” said University of Dreams alumni Anna Lee.
University of Dreams has partnerships with over 400 employers, from start-ups to the biggest names on Wall Street. Industries include public relations, finance, film, music, television, marketing, sports, accounting, advertising, broadcasting, fashion, legal and non-profit. Companies include big names such as Rogers and Cowan, Smith Barney, UBS, New Line Cinema, Paramount Pictures, Universal, 20th Century Fox, MTV and Juicy Couture.
“I found out about University of Dreams from a friend, applied, and within 15 days I got a letter of acceptance. I enrolled in the Los Angeles program, and I was recently placed in my top two internship choices, Gen Art and Backstage Creations,” said sophomore Katie Reininger.
Not only does University of Dreams provide access to a career of your choice, but it provides career coaching through weekly seminars, expert interview coaching and a professionally revised resume. Once enrolled in University of Dreams, participants will redesign their resumes with professional help, submit them to their top five companies and go through an interview tutorial in order to conduct a phone interview.
The benefits of University of Dreams continue because alumni are instantly a part of a “dreamer” community, which gives them access to resources such as the vault – uofdreams.org, and the alumni network. The dreamer vault includes financial grants and job opportunities.
