SMU officials hope to raise $750 million during SMU Unbridled: The Second Century Campaign, a major fundraising program that will take place over five years.
The campaign officially began two years ago, with the “quiet phase” raising $317 million. SMU hopes to raise the remaining 58 percent of the $750 million goal during the public phase of the campaign, which began on Friday in a celebration and luncheon at Moody Coliseum.
To do this, SMU wants to increase alumni donations. The university hopes that 25 percent of its alumni will give each year of the campaign, and that 50 percent of alumni will give during the duration of the campaign. The university’s current alumni donation rate is 18 percent.
