Assistant dance professor Larry White passed away Sept. 3 from cancer.
A celebration of his life and work will be held Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Caruth Auditorium in Meadows.
The memorial will open with a performance of Panorama, choreographed by Martha Graham, and will feature various modern pieces in honor of Larry’s spirit and love for dance.
“Although we will see no more new works from Larry, his generous heart and noble spirit live on with his students, friends, family and colleagues,” associate professor Nathan Montoya wrote.
White became a faculty member for the Division of Dance in the Meadows School of the Arts in 1999. He served as a board member for the Dance Council while continuing his practice of yoga and pursuing new interests in ceramics and Argentine tango.
Redencion, White’s final work, is based on his love for tango and was performed last fall in Meadows.
White’s family requests contributions for student scholarships be made in his memory to the Division of Dance at the Meadows School of the Arts.
