The SMU men’s soccer team will play in the Conference-USA Championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Mustangs were able to avenge their only loss this season against UAB.
The game was tied 1-1 after regulation, the first overtime and the second overtime forcing a shootout. The SMU goal came from Paulo DeSilva who tied the game in the 69th minute.
The Mustangs won on penalty kicks 3-1. Scoring for SMU was Mynor Gonzalez, Chase Wileman and Jordan Mann. Goalkeeper Matt Wideman stopped two of the three shots he had to face.
SMU will play the winner of Kentucky and Tulsa in Tulsa.
