SMU has many nicknames, some that make us proud and some that don’t. One positive example, in my opinion, is “Super Models’ University.”
SMU is well-known for the looks of not just the campus but the students. While the average college student rolls out of bed and runs to class, SMU students take the time and effort to look nice.
Some people criticize SMU students for desiring to look good all the time, but in my opinion it shows the students care about themselves. Dressing up for class shows people a clean-cut look that is presentable and not sloppy. Who would you hire, a girl in sweatpants or a girl in a skirt and a polo?
A friend from a different university described SMU girls as going to class “decked out in big designer sunglasses and makeup done like they’re going to a party…Juicy and Gucci clad girls-dripping in Tiffany’s and pumps,” while the SMU boys “sport Lacoste polos with popped collars, khakis and Rainbow flips.”
Every girl’s hair is perfectly highlighted and freshly cut. Their lips are perfectly kissable from their lip-gloss, which can never leave their sides. The guys have clean-cut hair and neatly shaved beards. The girls and guys both sport great figures.
One can always find a large amount of students at the Cinco Center perfecting their bodies. It is interesting to notice their workout outfits, which are also fashionable. They are not dressed as slobs but are fully clad in workout clothes they could also shop in.
After the students have gone to class and exercised, it is time to go out! The girls are decked out in fun dresses with high pumps, as if they are going to a premiere, while the guys have on long-sleeved button-down oxfords and dress pants paired with loafers.
A SMU student states it well: “‘The O.C.’ has nothing on SMU-the outfits, hair, make-up and attitude blow those amateurs out of the water.” It does not hurt that these fashion icons are glittering with friendly smiles.
SMU is unlike any other campus, thanks to the warm smiles and upbeat students. SMU students should be proud of their highly fashionable lifestyles. Embrace it! Whether going to EE class or the Grammys, SMU students are dressed to impress. They take pride in their school and believe the way they look reflects their gorgeous campus.
