The Mustangs took on the Tulane Golden Hurricane twice this weekend and came up short both times.
The first match took place in Tulsa on Friday night. The Mustangs managed a win in the third game, but lost the match 3-1.
Two Mustangs scored double doubles in the match. Caitlin Rainbird racked up 14 kills and 17 digs while Kathryn Wilkerson produced 19 kills and 10 digs.
Candice Davis entered the SMU record books netting a school-high 35 digs in a four-game match. Natalie Peters also came up big on offense with 12 kills.
The Mustangs had a chance to avenge the loss Sunday afternoon at Moody Coliseum.
SMU was on its way to doing just that. The Mustangs jumped on the Golden Hurricane early and got off to a 2-0 game lead.
But then SMU lost control and Tulsa was able to win three games in a row and take the match.
The Mustangs had three players achieve double doubles in the match. Once again, Rainbird and Wilkerson reached double digits in kills and digs, and Madison Hill joined them with 47 assists and 15 digs.
The two losses drop the Mustangs to 14-10 overall and 4-6 in the conference, ranking them eighth.
The Mustangs will now enjoy four more games at home to try and get back on track.
The first is against Tulane on Friday night at Moody Coliseum.
