The SMU volleyball team will look to get things going after a tough first weekend of conference play, but will have to do it on the road.
The Mustangs will face two completely different teams as they travel this weekend, playing UTEP and Tulane.
The Miners have suffered through a worse beginning of the season than the Mustangs have. UTEP is just 6-8 overall, and has started 0-3 in conference play. In 18 matches against the Miners, the Mustangs have won all but five, and will look to continue that trend tonight at 8 in El Paso.
Then on Sunday the Mustangs will take the other end of the conference spectrum.
SMU will travel to New Orleans to take on Tulane. The Green Wave have started the season strong, with a 13-3 overall record and are undefeated in three conference games.
The Mustangs will take on the top of the conference on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Mustangs played last weekend without senior co-captain Rachel Giubilato. Giubilato had a brace on her leg and the injury is still being evaluated.
In Giubilato’s absence the Mustangs are relying on Candice Davis, Kathryn Wilkerson and Caitlin Rainbird. Davis had a career high 35 digs in the loss to East Carolina, Wilkerson and Rainbird each recorded double doubles and Natalie Peters led the team in kills with 23.
