The Sigma Chi fraternity house was evacuated Saturday morning after a small fire set off the alarm.
The fire occurred in an air duct connected to the heating system. The alarm sounded between 8 and 8:15 a.m. according to Kevin Brown, a Sigma Chi member and resident of the house.
The unit was located in a small closet between two of the resident rooms.
There were close to 15 people in the house at the time of the evacuation. No one was injured.
Approximately 25 Sigma Chi members live in the house plus one house mom who resides on the lower level. There was nearly $10,000 worth of damage done to the house.
Monday, contractors stopped by the Sigma Chi house to assess what needs to be done in order to fix the damages.
