SMU’s fourth annual first weekend kicks off today at 5:30 p.m. and will continue through Sunday.
This year the schedule of events has been condensed in hopes of gathering better campus participation.
“We have a much different layout this year,” said First Weekend director Ryan Lamb.
The festivities begin tonight at the flagpole with a barbeque tasting. Plucker’s, Jimmy John’s, Texadelphia, Free Birds and Fuddrucker’s will cater the event and there will be music courtesy of 106.1 KISS FM.
The “mane event” for first weekend is a performance tonight at 7:30 p.m. in McFarlin Auditorium by “Saturday Night Live” actor Darrell Hammond.
Over the years, Hammond has impersonated several important figures including Bill Clinton, Dan Rather, Ted Koppel and, his most famous, Al Gore.
First weekend is open to everyone and an SMU ID is required to get into McFarlin tonight.
