At a loss for what to do this weekend? Probably not. But if you are, consider checking out one of the live music options the Dallas area has to offer. Tonight at the Granada, indie smash St. Vincent is playing her first Dallas show since the release of the acclaimed debut “Marry Me.” In Denton on Saturday, David Bazan (aka Pedro the Lion) is playing a show of his unique confessional rock at Dan’s Silverleaf. If you’ve got good money, Wilco is playing to what will surely be a huge crowd at the Palladium. Or you could join me at the Double Wide on Exposition (near Fair Park) to hear Tommy Hernandez, a local artist whose recent release “Mimespeak” fuses elements of piano rock, indie pop and dance into a sonic collage unlike much out there right now.
Think Dallas is a cultural wasteland devoid of good music? Think again. It may not be Austin City Limits, but it sounds like a good time to me.
