DALLAS (SMU) — Misty Birdsong of Dallas graduated summa cum laude from SMU?s Dedman School of Law May 18 and was class valedictorian.

Birdsong is the daughter of David and Carol Redfield of Fort Worth. She attended All Saints Episcopal School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Baylor University in December 1998.

Birdsong was editor-in-chief of the SMU Law Review and participated in national First Amendment moot court competitions. She was recognized as the outstanding first-year law student; inducted into the national law school honor society, Order of the Coif; and was named a Hatton-Sumners Scholar. She also co-chaired the school?s Domestic Violence Awareness Week.

Birdsong?s plans after graduation include clerking for Judge Robert Keeton, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Massachussetts in Boston, and then working for the trial section of Baker Botts in Dallas. She is married to Scott Birdsong.
