SMU’s Office of Research and Graduate Studies will host the 2007 Research Day today from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Hughes-Trigg lower level ballroom. This event, which occurs annually, will display research projects by more than 70 graduate students from a variety of disciplines who will be present to discuss their work.
Problems such as drug resistance, obesity in adolescent girls, hardware verification, reliability of Web applications, and the design of high-occupancy vehicle lanes are just some of the issues addressed by the research projects of SMU graduate students.
All students are welcome to attend the event and learn about what some of their fellow students have been working on.
A $250 prize will be awarded to each departmental winner, and other prizes will be given for specialized projects. The exhibits are judged by faculty experts.
“This is a public debut for many of our best students, and it’s a great opportunity for the SMU community to get an advance look at creative research at an early state,” dean of Research and Graduate Studies R. Hal Williams said in a press release.
