This fall marks a huge turn-around from the lackluster summer of music, with over 30 new releases from both mainstream and underground artists.
Today will see releases from Franz Ferdinand, Liz Phair, The Joggers, The Magic Numbers and My Morning Jacket.
“You Could Have It So Much Better-” is Franz Ferdinand’s sophomore album. When asked in an interview with “Entertainment Magazine” how the band planned to follow up its debut album, which sold over three million copies, the band said it just did it.
Also today, Liz Phair releases her fifth album, “Somebody’s Miracle,” which she says in an interview with “Entertainment Weekly” will be “less sensationalistic – more affectionate.” Her last album was more pop-oriented, but she says this one will be more artistic.
On Oct. 11, Alicia Keys will release her double CD-DVD album, “Unplugged.” Look for this album to showcase her improved performing skills as well as a finale featuring Common, Mos Def and Damian Marley.
Oct. 18 will see releases from the legendary Depeche Mode, the neo-psychedelic band Animal Collective and Richardson native Ashlee Simpson. Simpson will again combine the rough with the sweet in her new album, “I Am Me.”
Depeche Mode will continue to transform synthesizers and guitars in “Gorgeous Doom,” according to “Entertainment Weekly.”
Be sure to check out Brooklyn’s Animal Collective and its new CD, “Feels.” This band bridges indie-folk with neo-psychedelica that creates a primal sound, according to “Entertainment Weekly.”
November brings new albums from Shakira, Fatlip, System of a Down, Jessica Simpson and the Darkness, along with a live LP from Wilco.
Fatlip, a former member of the Pharcyde, will release his solo debut at the beginning of November.
Shakira will release the English followup to her June Spanish release, “Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1,” that includes a duet with Carlos Santana.
Neil Diamond will finally release an album showcasing what he does best – songwriting, on November’s “12 Songs.”
Pharrell, part of the Neptunes, will release his second solo album, which he divides equally into rap and R&B.
Just in time for the holidays, December will see albums dropping from Madonna, Outkast, the Fugees, Ryan Adams and P.O.D.
Madonna will go back to her roots on her new dance album, “Confessions on a Dance Floor.”
The Fugees will release their new album after an almost decade-long hiatus in which they all released their own solo albums.
Music fans will have a plethora of albums to choose from both new artists and old favorites. Enjoy!
