Events this week on the Hilltop

Events this week on the Hilltop

Fall break is right around the corner, but the Hilltop isn’t shutting down just yet. Here is a quick peek at some of the events going on around campus this week.

If you’re looking for a lunch break, head over to the Owen Arts Center lobby and check out the Brown Bag Dance series. The Division of Dance is presenting special lunchtime performances of 10 to 15 original, student-choreographed ballet, modern and jazz dances. The performances begin at 12:30 and end at 2:30 p.m. The series ends on Friday, October 9.

Maybe you are hungry for a late night snack. If so, the SMU Wesley House has you covered. Tonight, October 6, is crepe night. From 8 to 9:30 p.m. students can join SMU Wesley and HPUMC College for free crepes and coffee. The event is located at the SMU Wesley Foundation building behind Fondren Science.

A V.I.P. is coming to the Hilltop. Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist and Fox News commentator, Charles Krauthammer will be here on Wednesday night. He is the guest for the annual Rosine Smith Sammons Lecture in Media Ethics. The event begins at 8 p.m. in Caruth Auditorium. Tickets are free but are required. To get a ticket call 214-768-2787.

Needing some retail therapy? The Society of Women Engineers has a great excuse for you. Head over to Kendra Scott in Preston Center from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 8 and do some shopping. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the SWE.

Also happening Thursday is the World Hunger Relief Gala. The Student Senate Diversity Committee is hosting a relevant conversation and simulation on the issues of hunger facing the world. The event is free and begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Hughes Trigg Ballroom.

And don’t forget, no classes on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Happy fall break!
