A female SMU student reported she was robbed of her cell phone near La Madeline Country French Cafe in Park Cities Plaza around 11 a.m. today.

The student was walking on the east side of Bush Avenue when a heavy-set black woman in a silver, 4-door Saturn pulled up asking to use her cell phone. When the student leaned into the car to give the woman the phone, the woman grabbed her phone and drove away. The student was knocked to the ground. She suffered minor injuries.

The suspect was described as being in her early 20s wearing a light-colored top and shorts.

SMU Police is investigating the report. Anyone with information about this incident must contact SMU PD at 214-768-3333 or University Park PD at 214-363-3000.
