About Us

The Daily Campus is SMU’s oldest student news organization, winning national, state and regional awards for its coverage of campus news. Since 1915, student reporters have covered campus life through print editions, podcasts, videos and daily online news updates. We welcome story ideas and contributions from all students. Our coverage ranges from serious investigations to what students are listening to as they walk across campus. If it’s happening on the Hilltop, we want to know about it.

Please send story ideas to [email protected] When pitching a story, include “Story Pitch” in the subject line and the following information about your pitch: story idea/in three to five sentences, at least three people you could talk to and video and/or photo possibilities. An editor will respond to you and work with you on a deadline, if your pitch is accepted.

Publishing Schedule

We are a digital-first newsroom and active on social media platforms where we engage with students, faculty and the SMU community. Our news magazine, The DC, publishes multiple times a semester and is available on newsstands throughout campus.

Takedown Policy

The Daily Campus will consider requests to remove content from stories produced and published by our staff. We evaluate all removal requests based on legal, safety, and factual considerations. Our editorial team believes altering and/or removing published content would disservice our audience by preventing accurate documentation of events as they unfold and could damage our credibility as we strive to be fair to all. We are committed to maintaining the integrity of our reporting and preserving the historical record. Factual errors will be corrected promptly with a clearly marked editor’s note. All content changes and removal decisions are made at the discretion of student media editors in consultation with faculty advisors.
